Ingredients

Apple Fry Ingredients
  • 2 large large apples (Honeycrisp or Granny Smith)
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour Can substitute with gluten-free flour.
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs Use gluten-free panko for a gluten-free version.
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon Optional: use 'fancier' cinnamon for elevated flavor.
  • Nonstick cooking spray

Method

Preparation
  1. Peel (optional) and cut apples into fry-like sticks. Pat dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.
  2. Set up coating stations: Bowl 1: Add flour. Bowl 2: Whisk egg and milk together. Bowl 3: Mix panko breadcrumbs, sugar, and cinnamon.
Coating and Cooking
  1. Dredge each apple stick in flour, dip into the egg mixture, then coat well with the breadcrumb mixture.
  2. Lightly spray coated apple fries with nonstick spray. Place in the air fryer basket in a single layer (work in batches if needed).
  3. Air fry at 380°F (190°C) for 7–9 minutes, shaking basket halfway through, until golden and crispy.
Serving
  1. Enjoy warm with caramel dip, yogurt, or whipped cream.

Notes

If the first batch isn't crispy, increase the temperature slightly or add an extra minute. Honeycrisp apples yield the best results for crispiness.
