For the Buttercream Frosting

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease and flour your pans.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, blend eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract.
  4. Combine both mixtures gently until smooth. Stir in boiling water; the batter will be thin.
Baking
  1. Pour the batter into your prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes.
  2. Test with a toothpick; it should come out clean. Let the cakes cool completely.
Frosting
  1. Beat softened butter until pale and fluffy. Gradually add powdered sugar and cocoa, then mix in cream and vanilla until smooth.
Assembly & Decoration
  1. Spread frosting on the first layer of the cooled cake, then add the second layer and cover evenly.
  2. Chill the cake for 20 minutes to set the frosting.
  3. Drizzle chocolate ganache on top and decorate as desired.

Notes

Always sift your cocoa and powdered sugar for a silky frosting. Store leftovers covered at room temperature for up to 3 days.
