Crab Dip

A creamy, rich crab dip that's hot, bubbly, and perfect for sharing. This recipe combines canned and lump crabmeat with cream cheese, cheddar, and a kick of Worcestershire for a crowd-pleasing appetizer.

  • 1 can crabmeat, drained
  • 1 cup lump crabmeat (fresh or refrigerated) Use for texture
  • 1 cup cream cheese, softened Full-fat recommended
  • 1/2 cup sour cream Full-fat recommended
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese Pre-shredded is fine, but block cheese is preferred for melting
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice Fresh is best but bottled is acceptable
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Chopped green onions, for garnish (optional) Recommended for color and crunch

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir until smooth.
  3. Gently fold in the canned crabmeat and lump crabmeat, being careful not to mash.
  4. Stir in most of the shredded cheddar cheese, reserving a small handful for topping.
  5. Transfer the mixture to a small baking dish and smooth the top.
  6. Sprinkle the reserved cheddar cheese over the top.
  7. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until lightly golden and bubbly.
  8. Let it sit for 5 minutes before garnishing with chopped green onions, if desired.
  9. Serve warm with crackers, toasted bread, or chips.

Notes

For a make-ahead option, prepare and refrigerate the dip in a baking dish, then bake when ready. It can be served alongside various snacks such as chips or veggie sticks.
