Ingredients

For the Creamy Garlic Shrimp
  • 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons butter (for the shrimp)
  • Salt and pepper to taste salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
For the Mashed Potatoes
  • 2 pounds potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 4 tablespoons butter (for potatoes)

Method

Prepare the Mashed Potatoes
  1. Boil the potatoes in a large pot until tender, about 15-20 minutes.
  2. Drain and mash with milk and 4 tablespoons of butter. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Cook the Creamy Garlic Shrimp
  1. In a skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  2. Add the shrimp to the skillet and cook until pink and opaque, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Pour in the heavy cream and stir to combine. Let it simmer for a couple of minutes until the sauce thickens.
Serve the Dish
  1. Serve the creamy garlic shrimp over the mashed potatoes, and garnish with fresh parsley.

Notes

Watch the potatoes while cooking to ensure tenderness. If the sauce is too thin, it can be thickened with a quick slurry of flour and water.
