Heavenly Oreo Dessert

Ingredients
  

For the crust
  • 1 family-size package Oreo cookies, divided About 48 cookies
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted Use real butter
For the cream cheese layer
  • 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened Ensure it's at room temperature
  • 1 cup powdered sugar Sifted if desired
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Use high-quality vanilla if possible
  • 1 tub (8 oz) whipped topping, thawed, divided Like Cool Whip
For the pudding layer
  • 2 packages (3.4 oz each) instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 3 cups cold milk Whole milk is recommended
Optional garnish
  • to taste extra crushed Oreos For topping
  • to taste mini chocolate chips Optional for garnish
  • to taste chocolate syrup Optional for garnish

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Crush most of the Oreos (save 6–8 for topping) in a large zip-top bag using a rolling pin to make chunky crumbs.
  2. Mix crushed Oreos with melted butter and press into the bottom of a 9x13-inch dish. Chill in the fridge while preparing other layers.
Cream Cheese Layer
  1. Beat softened cream cheese until smooth and fluffy. Add powdered sugar and vanilla, then mix until smooth.
  2. Fold in half of the whipped topping gently and spread over the chilled crust.
Pudding Layer
  1. In a large bowl, whisk the instant pudding mixes with cold milk for about 2 minutes until thickened.
  2. Spread the pudding layer over the cream cheese layer and smooth it out.
Assembly and Chilling
  1. Spread the remaining whipped topping over the pudding layer.
  2. Garnish with crushed Oreos and any additional toppings.
  3. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight before serving.

Notes

This dessert can be made ahead for parties and keeps well in the fridge. Use light or reduced-fat ingredients if desired, but texture may vary. Serve chilled and enjoy!
