Ingredients

Dough Ingredients
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water (110°F/45°C)
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp dried Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley (chopped, for garnish)
  • 1 tbsp melted butter (for brushing)

Method

Preparation
  1. In a small bowl, stir warm water and sugar. Add yeast and let sit for 5–7 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, salt, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning.
  3. Add yeast mixture and olive oil to dry mix. Stir until dough forms.
  4. Knead on a lightly floured surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place dough in greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled.
  6. Punch down dough, knead in mozzarella and Parmesan until spread evenly.
  7. Shape into loaf, place in greased loaf pan, and let rise for 30 minutes.
Baking
  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush top with melted butter and bake for 30–35 minutes until golden.
  2. Sprinkle with parsley, let cool for 10 minutes, then slice and serve.

Notes

For added flavor, use fresh herbs instead of dried, and consider swapping in whole wheat flour for a denser loaf. Store leftovers in foil at room temperature for up to 2 days, then freeze slices as needed.
