Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs and sugar until smooth.
- Add the milk and vanilla extract, and mix until well combined.
- Sprinkle in the salt and stir to incorporate.
- Pour the custard mixture into ramekins or a baking dish.
- Place the ramekins in a larger baking pan and fill with hot water until it reaches halfway up the sides of the ramekins.
Baking
- Sprinkle nutmeg on top of the custard mixture.
- Bake for 40-50 minutes, checking for doneness with a knife; it should come out clean.
Notes
This custard can be made ahead of time and chilled in the fridge. Feel free to substitute nutmeg with cinnamon if needed.
