Ingredients
  

Pasta and Protein
  • 8 ounces pasta (penne or fusilli) Choose your favorite type of pasta.
  • 1 pound ground chicken Can substitute with ground turkey or beef.
Liquids
  • 2 cups chicken broth Vegetable broth can be used as an alternative.
  • 1 cup milk Use cream for a richer taste.
Cheese
  • 1 cup shredded cheese A mix of cheddar and mozzarella for flavor.
Aromatics
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced Fresh garlic preferred, but jarred is acceptable.
Seasonings
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil For sautéing.
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning Oregano or basil works well.
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, optional For garnish.

Method
 

Cooking
  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet and sauté onion until glossy.
  2. Add ground chicken, season with salt and pepper, and brown the chicken.
  3. Add minced garlic and Italian seasoning, and cook for an additional 30 seconds.
  4. Pour in chicken broth and milk, then add pasta. Simmer covered until pasta is al dente, stirring occasionally.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in shredded cheese until melted. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

For added texture, toss in frozen peas or roasted red peppers. To prevent drying out, avoid high heat and excessive stirring.
