  • 2 pieces ripe bananas, mashed Fresh with brown spots preferred.
  • 1 cup sugar Adjustable for sweeter preference.
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened Can substitute with oil if desired.
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup crushed Oreo cookies Cheaper Oreos are acceptable.
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips Optional.

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the mashed bananas, sugar, and softened butter.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  4. In another bowl, combine the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Fold in the crushed Oreo cookies and chocolate chips if using.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  8. Bake for 60-70 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For best results, don’t overmix the batter. Tent with foil if the top browns too quickly.
