Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef (or turkey)
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 small green bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon mustard
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • 4 pieces hamburger buns Sturdy or brioche buns recommended

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef (or turkey) until browned. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add the chopped onion, green bell pepper, and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté until vegetables are tender.
Cooking
  1. Stir in the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, mustard, salt, and pepper. Let simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Serving
  1. Serve the mixture on hamburger buns. Add any optional toppings as desired.

Notes

Toast your buns in the skillet for a minute to prevent sogginess. This dish is great for potlucks and makes for fantastic leftovers.
