  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Use real butter for best results.
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups rolled oats Make sure to use rolled oats for proper texture.
  • 1 cup raisins Plump raisins add sweetness.

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt. Gradually blend this dry mixture into the creamed mixture.
  5. Stir in the oats and raisins until evenly distributed.
  6. Drop by rounded tablespoon onto ungreased cookie sheets.
  7. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until the edges are nicely golden.
  8. Allow to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

For best moisture retention, store cookies in an airtight container with a slice of bread. You can freeze the dough balls on a tray and then bag them for future baking.
