  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons)
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves roasted garlic, mashed
  • 1/2 cup fresh herbs (such as parsley, basil, or chives), chopped Fresh herbs are recommended.
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (such as mozzarella or cheddar) Use sharper cheese for better flavor.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add flour, salt, and olive oil to the yeast mixture. Knead for about 10 minutes until smooth.
  3. Mix in the roasted garlic and fresh herbs.
  4. Cover and let dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
Baking
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Punch down the dough and roll it out. Sprinkle the cheese evenly over the surface and roll it up tightly.
  3. Place in a greased loaf pan and let it rise again for about 30 minutes.
  4. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  5. Let cool slightly before slicing and enjoy warm.
