  • 1 packet active dry yeast About 2 1/4 teaspoons.
  • 1 tablespoon sugar To help activate the yeast.
  • 5 cups all-purpose flour Use bread flour for a chewier texture.
  • 1/4 cup olive oil Plus more for the pan and brushing.
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced Adjust according to taste.
  • 1 tablespoon salt Regular table or sea salt.
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese Grates from the supermarket are acceptable.
  • 1/4 cup spicy hot honey Adjust for desired spiciness.
  • Fresh herbs (optional, for garnish) Such as rosemary or thyme.

Method
 

Preparation of Dough
  1. In a bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for about 10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-10 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Baking
  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Punch down the dough and spread it into a greased baking pan.
  3. Use your fingers to create dimples in the dough, then brush with olive oil, sprinkle with minced garlic, and top with parmesan cheese.
  4. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  5. Drizzle with spicy hot honey just before serving. Enjoy warm!
