  • 1.5 pounds ground beef
  • 1 cup finely chopped mushrooms Chop mushrooms finely for better texture.
  • 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese Can use aged Swiss for enhanced flavor.
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • to taste salt and pepper

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, mushrooms, Swiss cheese, breadcrumbs, milk, onion, garlic, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  3. Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in a greased baking dish.
Cooking
  1. Bake for 1 hour or until the meatloaf is cooked through and the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
  2. Let it rest for a few minutes before slicing.
  3. Serve with mashed potatoes and gravy if desired.

Notes

Let the meatloaf rest after baking to prevent it from falling apart when sliced. Brush the top with ketchup or BBQ glaze in the last 10 minutes of baking for a glossy finish.
